Reflections of Australia

Artist: Emma Robinson

The inspiration behind the Australian Painted Pony draws on themes of traditional Aboriginal art, known as "Dream Time", traditional story telling of the connections to the land. The symbolic artwork and markings of footprints, boomerangs, lines, dots and native animals reflect my impressions of Aboriginal Australia; a culture that has faced many hardships and challenges but forms the core foundation of this country. The design celebrates the warm beauty of the landscape contrasted with the rich colours of our national flag, representing a fusion of culture, with the hand-prints mapping the past, present and future journeys of Australian people, who are diverse and many.

Made of ceramic. Measures approx. 15cm high.
